On our last full day in Paris we decided to act like tourists...not that we weren't previously, but after feeling like we lived there, being touristy was kind of fun! We walked along the Rue de Rivoli and popped in and out of a number of souvenir shops. There was also a brief stint in the Carousel de Louvre shops as we had not done that previously. However, that came with an interesting issue, tons and tons of people! The museums are free on the first Sunday of each month and that happened to be when we were nearby. Holy crowds of people, batman, they were everywhere! Its not like it is expensive to get into the Louvre, but man, it became all the more worth what we paid to go the week before to not have to wait in these long lines and deal with all of those people when trying to view any of the items in the museum!
When we were getting a bite to eat we were trying to figure out what to do the rest of the afternoon. We thought getting on a "hop on, hop off" bus was just the right thing - we could see a lot of the things we had already seen yet again, but then we would also see some new things we did not get to this trip. We knew that the "L'Open Tour" had a stop new the Louvre so we went to investigate. A good laugh was had once the bus arrived as I had my head down trying to get information on our phone and David was near the stop trying to flag me down. I paid attention at just the right time and we got onto the bus and secured some seats in the open top for prime viewing. It was a great idea and we had a great time. Even some of the music from the audio part of the tour has stuck with us...you know the kind, when it gets stuck in your head and you can't make it go away?? Yup, that is also part of our bus tour memories!
Lucky for us one of the stops on the bus was only a few blocks from our apartment. It allowed us to see all but one of the stops on the tour (something we had already seen, so that was okay) and it practically delivered us home so that worked even better than we originally thought! After getting back we spent some time getting a few things packed up and preparing for our departure the next day. After our last dinner in Paris we did a few more packing related things and called it a night. It was a great time in Paris!!!
