Oh Paris, it is good to be here. Our bullet train ride from Amsterdam was quick and easy (just how travel should be!) on Friday and we were introduced to our apartment. Once we felt a little settled we went out for a quick lunch at a cafe near the apartment and bought a few groceries at the Monoprix. After that we were off to begin exploring the city. First up was a walk through the Tuileries garden which led us to Champs Elysees and eventually to the Arc de Triomphe. We decided to go for it and climbed the 284 stairs to the top and so glad we did. The view was fantastic and it was a beautiful night to be up there!
After that we made our way over to the Eiffel Tower and did not go up on this partricular evening, just viewed it up close. We stopped for some dinner at a cafe along the walk home and aside from the large chalkboard menu sign getting blown onto David, it was a good meal and a nice stop along our way home.
Our feet had been through enough for the day so we were happy to flag down a taxi to get us the rest of the way. Day one of sucessfully being out and about and finding our way back "home" was great!
