Bainbridge Island Day Trip

We had a rare day where we had no previously agreed upon committments so we took advantage of the opportunity and headed over to Bainbridge Island for the day.  Aside from the pricey fare just to take the ferry there and back it was a great day!  Not only did we find "Wyatt Way W" and some water (shocking, I know!) but we had some good wine and food as well.

After walking around a bit upon our arrival we made a stop at the Eleven Winery tasting room.  It was good stuff but wasn't anything we felt we needed to take home with us.  Our next stop was supposed to be at the Bainbridge Island Barbecue for lunch but alas, it was not meant to be.  They were apparently closed for the day to do some catering.  Great for them, bummer for us!

We then stopped in at Cafe Nola and had some brunch for lunch!  Now don't get me wrong, our food was good, but let me tell you, the fruit that was artfully stacked on each of our plates was simply AMAZING!  All very fresh and juicy and we were so happy!

Next we wound our way around the island with a stop at the Fletcher Bay winery.  Wow - they don't bottle much to begin with but they were sold out of almost everything!  Once again, great for them, but not so much a bummer for us because the Terra that they did have was great and we came home with two bottles!  It is a bordeaux wine and as such they were offering a fine sampling of french foods and other tasty treats so it was all around a great experience!

After a short stop at the Fay Bainbridge state park for some enjoyment of water views we decided to start making our way home.  A quick stop in the Eagle Harbor Wine Co. tasting room resulted in a bottle of Cabernet being purchased before zipping off to Mora for some yummy ice cream.  Talk about yummy goodness - they have it figured out and we got to enjoy it!  Then it was back to the ferry and home for a quiet evening to end our big day-long adventure.
