The Beach and Return to the Beers

Friday - how quick it comes. Today was our visit to the beach. It's about 40 minutes away, and after stocking up the sunscreen, towels and scouting out the yelp recommendations on lunch, we were on our way. The drive there was green, with happy cows hanging out in the pastures on the sides. At times we were on windy roads, so fortunately our experienced Heather was driving through it all. Lunch was at a small restaurant called the Boat House, featuring its non-level floors over half of the place. It was cool and breezy, and the sun faded as we got to the beach. We got the super kite ready, which took a remarkable few seconds to pop into flying formation and clip the line to and off it went floating. After alternating kite holding, I stuck the kite handle into my pocket to show its ability to fly with no attention and we tossed the frisbee around. Sometimes we even got the frisbee within 10' of each other! It also showed a great ability to roll long distances towards massive bodies of water, prompting several sprints to save it from the big drink.

Without a lot of sun or warmth, our beach stay was short. We dismissed the other activities of kayaking and stepping into the water and decided some wine tasting was in order. We dropped by two wineries in the Russian River area: De Loach (ok wines, but a great garden with bountiful fragrant sweet peas) and Pellegrini. The server at Pellegrini brews his own beer as well, so our conversation quickly went in that direction while Heather checked out the tasting room. We traded ideas and conversations on different brews done. It was a fun conversation and nice not to be talking about wine for once!

After wrapping up the tastings of the day we went to the Russian River brewing company for their beer sampler and snacks. They served belgium beers and had 3 IPAs in the sample. After enjoying those and a pint of their double-hopped IPA, we checked out the 3rd Street brew house. I tried their IPA and we finished up dinner. I was very hoppy and that wraps up our Friday!
