Our first full day in Santa Rosa was great. The bed felt like it came from a nearby quarry, so we were a little sore. We went to the local 24 hour fitness to work out. It was a good size and we got our hamster wheel work over and met up with my friend Anne for lunch, then a chocolate and wine tasting in Napa. The food was great, apparently it had to come up to par with the quality of wine in the region. Can't have great wine and crappy food, I guess, and that's fine with me. So after a nice sunny lunchtime chat, we came across a pickle dancing on the sidewalk. So Pickle and I jammed on the sidewalk (no, I didn't have wine yet).
We drove to Napa and were early for the tasting, which was later than posted online, so we walked around the area, picked up a map showing the million wineries in the area, and hung out in a nearby park waiting to begin. The wines were great or meh, which is how it goes, and the strawberries/chocolate were superb!
We had some thai for dinner near our lunch location, wandered our way through Mervyns (yes, they still exist), went home and started assembling our 2000 piece puzzle. Hm. 2000 pieces is a lot! We are looking for a topical wine puzzle to replace this one, as it won't get done before our return. If you are looking for a 2000 piece puzzle to burn off a few months of time, let us know!
