Santa Rosa at last!

We made it to Santa Rosa which makes it feel like vacation has truly begun! The day of driving was again not very exciting, but David did have his fair share of curvy roads along with straight roads, while I got to ride in the lap of luxury as the passenger all day. Lucky me! :) Thankfully there was no Wagner in this leg of the trip, but I have a feeling that I am not in the clear yet!

As we got closer to Santa Rosa we saw a bit of Napa, drove through Sonoma, and have already seen plenty of wineries we wouldn't mind visiting over the course of the next week. The vineyards extend up into the hills and you just see rows and rows of perfectly aligned grape vines.

The real highlight of Saturday was dinner. We used a great website, www.yelp.com, to look for a restaurants in the area and read reviews of what experiences other people have had at these restaurants. The very highly rated/recommended restaurant Syrah was our pick for the evening and what a great choice it was! We each had a nice glass of Cabernet from Cain, a winery in Napa. David did however taste a Syrah from Acorn winery first and while it was good, he decided to go with the Cab for the night. We shared a salad and then shared some New York steak and halibut, all very good. Then of course we shared some creme brulee which was also quite nice. If you haven't already figured it out, we had a great night at this place and recommend it to anyone visiting Santa Rosa!

The evening was short after that, just a little time to settle in to our hotel and finish up Grey's Anatomy. Soon we will be starting on a puzzle when we have some down time in the hotel and are looking forward to seeing that come together.
